The Windy City Lab at Loyola University Medical Center / Edward J. Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago is lead by Dr. Avinash Patwardhan, Director of the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory and Professor at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. Orthopaedic residents, statisticians, engineers, medical and engineering students, and surgeons come together to learn more about musculoskeletal biomechanics and publish their findings. Over
100 peer-reviewed articles have appeared in prestigious medical journals like Spine, JBJS, J of Biomechanics, etc. Chiropractic researchers and clinicians work as collaborators at this laboratory as well.
The newly developed
website for the Windy City Lab is now live and shares its collaborative efforts, one being that with Palmer Research Center in the study of Cox Technic Flexion Distraction, the chiropractic spinal manipulation system developed by James M. Cox, DC, DACBR.
At the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory, chiropractic researchers and clinicians join the Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory team to study the biomechanical effects of flexion distraction on the lumbar spine and cervical spine. Clinical studies are also developed with input from the chiropractic and medical research team members. Keep in touch with the work this laboratory is doing!
