Cox® Technic and Haven Innovation
Press Release
August 12, 2011
Palmer College of Chiropractic
Davenport, Iowa
On behalf of the physicians of Cox® Technic, Dr. James Cox and Don Wisner, President of Haven Innovation and manufacturer of The Cox®7 Table, we are honored to present this Cox7 Table to Palmer College of Chiropractic and Dr. Ram Gudavalli and his family in the name of his beloved daughter, Dr. Sharina Gudavalli, whom we all lost to an accident too early in her life and career four years ago.
Following graduation from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Sharina pursued post graduate study and completed certification in Cox® Technic. Dr. Sharina was practicing in Chicago with Dr. Ralph Kruse, a Cox® Technic physician and instructor, as well as following her father’s footsteps of research and publishing chiropractic clinical outcomes in JMPT. She is greatly missed for all this as well as her concern for and efforts to help those in need.
As a group, Cox® Technic physicians and related persons chose to collect funds to purchase a flexion distraction instrument, The Cox7 Table, in Dr. Sharina’s name and place it in an easily accessible place for patients to receive the chiropractic care she so loved to share.
Don Wisner of Haven Innovation donates over a third of the value of the instrument and is honored to work with the Palmer Colleges.
We appreciate Dr. Kurt Wood (Palmer’s Vice Chancellor for Clinic Affairs) , Dr. James Owens and Dr. Tom Milus (certified Cox® Technic physician and Palmer West faculty) for joining the presentation. For co-ordinating this donation effort on campus at Palmer, thank you goes to Lois Kundel, Karla Johnson, Dr. Larry Swank, Dr. Dennis Lopez and, not least of all, Dr. Ram Gudavalli who has done and does so much for chiropractic research and flexion distraction. Our prayers are with him and his family in their loss, but hope that this token donation honors Dr. Sharina’s professional life.
