Cox® Technic on campus at Logan!
With the help of
Dr. Amber Henry, director of Post Grad, plans were made to present the
Cox® Lumbar Spine Certification Course on campus at
Logan University on October 24-27, 2024. Cox® Core Instruction team members,
Dr. Kurt Olding (Minster OH) and
Dr. Lee Hazen (Temecula CA) were scheduled to lead the 3.5 days course to cover the biomechanics, examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and Cox® treatment protocol training with
The Cox®8 Table by Haven Medical. (Logan shared use of their clinic Cox® Tables for these days as well as G102 and G105!) A couple weeks before the course, Dr. Cox decided to join the drive to Logan with his daughter, Julie, who coordinates the courses. With the help of
Dr. Kelly Brinkman, we coordinated Cox® Tables to use, rooms to use, and students. What an exciting few days were enjoyed at Logan…
with bonuses.
Julie and Dr. Kelly Brinkman:
Teresa Fleckner and Brian Stone invited us to the dinner celebrating the Carter|Eberline Administration Building on Thursday night. What an honor that was as Dr. Doug Cox has been a longtime Cox® Technic practitioner and supporter. While he was the Virginia Chiropractic Association president, he’d had Dr. Cox speak for the association convention. It was so nice to see him and catch up with his wife on such an auspicious occasion.
On Thursday and Friday afternoons, Dr. Brinkman had him talk with her Cox® elective class students and share cases. On Friday morning, Dr. Cox spoke with Dr. Grossenheider’s tri-5 students about the depth of research to Cox® Technic and shared some hands-on. Two brave tri-5’s worked with him!

and with student "volunteers" who joined him!
On Saturday, Dr. Cox joined the certification course group for a couple hours and shared some of the latest studies in spinal research, one in particular that was just published on Wednesday (the day before the course) that was done with Logan!
“Intervertebral Disc Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Changes After Spinal Manipulative Therapy for Lumbar Discogenic Pain” was published in
Cureus journal by Jessica F. Billham, Dingbo Shi, Erika Evans Roland, Matthew F. Gornet, Kelly K. Brinkman, Francine W. Schranck, James M. Cox, and Norman W. Kettner.
That was so exciting for him to get to share that at Logan! On Sunday, Dr Cox spent 3 hours summing up the weekend’s training with clinical cases and their treatment as well as a special talk on afferentation and the effect of spinal manipulation on the nervous system and the vagus nerve, a favorite topic of his.
Certification course attendees ranged from clinicians to recent graduates to students. Proudly, Dr. Cox sponsored 10 attendees
(7 from Logan, 2 from Palmer, 1 from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières) via his
Cox® Scholars’ Program which covers tuition and exam testing fees for selected applicants who are first and second year chiropractic school graduates.
