White willow bark for low back pain relief!
Found in Disc and Joint Pain Relief Complex Enhanced by CTRC, white willow bark's reputation for easing low back pain grows. Early reports of its effectiveness in low back pain relief dating back to 2000 (Chrubasik) described its benefit. One study compared high-dose, low-dose and placebo. At the end of 4 weeks, the high-dose willow bark extract (salicin) group was best.
- high dose - 39% pain free - and their positive results showed up after only 1 week of use!
- low dose - 21% pain free
- placebo - 4% pain free (and these patients required tramadol more throughout the study)
Another more recent study analyzed what willow bark offers beyond the salix component/salicylic acid that may account for anti-inflammatory pain relief. They found human metabolites of flavonoids, proanthocyanidins and salicylic alcohol derivatives which help explain the anti-inflammatory effect. (Untergehrer)
For back pain sufferers, pain relief and inflammation reduction are positive!
Disc and Joint Pain Relief Complex Enhanced includes white willow bark in the mix with other anti-inflammatory herbs like curcumin, tumeric, ginger, boswellia serrata, quercetin, devil's claw, valerian root, and pepperine (black pepper to boost the effectiveness of curcumin!).
